WILL O’NEILL
Mayor Pro Tem, Newport Beach City Council

Mayor Pro Tem Will O’Neill grew up in the Central Valley community of Fresno.  He graduated from Stanford University (B.A. History) where he lettered on the track and field team.  He then graduated from U.C. Hastings College of the Law (J.D.).  He has served on the U.C. Hastings Board of Governors, most recently as President during the 2016/2017 term.

Mr. O’Neill is a partner with the law firm of Ross, Wersching & Wolcott, LLP.  He previously worked for California Supreme Court Justice Marvin Baxter (Ret.), the California Court of Appeal (Fifth Appellate District), and Dallas-based firm Haynes & Boone, LLP.

Mr. O’Neill served two terms on the Newport Beach Finance Committee as a citizen member.  He is also a member of the Newport Harbor Exchange Club, board member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, past Trustee of the Celtic Bar Association, and active attendee at Mariners Church.

Mr. O’Neill’s wife, Jenny, is a former elementary school teacher.  They met at the Stanford-USC football game in 2007.  They have two children who will hopefully understand someday how blessed they are to be raised in Newport Beach.
