Barry Rondinella
Airport Director, John Wayne Airport
Barry Rondinella is the Airport Director for Orange County’s John Wayne Airport, the 40th busiest commercial passenger airport and 30th busiest airport (total operations) in the nation. As Airport Director, he oversees all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Airport including Business Development, Facilities, Finance & Administration, Operations and Public Affairs. He is responsible for managing a $242.2 million annual budget and a staff of 178 employees.
Rondinella’s aviation experience spans more than three decades and he has more than twenty-five years of public sector experience in the airport and transportation industry. He has held increasingly responsible management positions in transportation and airport operations with the City of Lompoc, the Santa Maria Public Airport District, San Joaquin County, Sacramento County and most recently the City of Los Angeles as the Director of Operations for LAX. He holds a commercial pilot license and has logged hundreds of hours of high performance, multi-engine jet time.
In 2003, Rondinella became an Accredited Airport Executive as awarded by the American Association of Airport Executives and served on its Board of Directors. He is Past President of the South West Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE). He is also a Certified Airport Executive as conferred by SWAAAE in 1994.
Rondinella earned an Associate of Science degree in Commercial Aviation from Mount San Antonio College and a Bachelor of Science
