Democratic clubs of coastal Orange County will hold a community forum on public education from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 in Costa Mesa. The public is invited.

A panel of experts will discuss Common Core state standards, student loan debt, funding, policies for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math,) multiculturalism and more.

Led by Ari Grayson of the Laguna Beach Democratic Club, the panel will include Thomas Parham, UCI’s vice chancellor for student affairs, Lori Gentles, vice president of human resources, diversity and inclusion at Cal State Fullerton, Bonnie Gray, psychologist, Claire Cesareo, faculty association president of the South Orange County community college district and Mike Matsuda, superintendent of the Anaheim Union High School District.

Also attending will be Suzanne Savary, candidate for U.S. Congress, Sharon Quirk Silva, candidate for state assembly, Joseph Dunn, former state senator, Katrina Foley, Costa Mesa city council member, and Beth Krom, Irvine city council member.

The forum will be held at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center , 1845 Park Ave. in Costa Mesa. Suggested donation is $10.
