Kevin Bass is a 3rd generation Californian; born in Los Angeles and grew up in Yorba Linda, CA.  Kevin attended California State University, Fullerton graduating in 1989.  He majored in History and Geography/Urban Planning, graduating with two degrees.  He was hired by the City of Anaheim as a city planner and spent the next 13 years managing projects, conducting plan reviews and preparing reports for the city planning commission and city council.  Kevin then accepted the assistant fire marshal position at the Orange County Fire Authority, where he was responsible for overseeing plan review, inspection and administrative staff members while providing fire prevention services to 23 cities and the unincorporated areas of Orange County.

He also served as an elected Board Trustee for the Fullerton School District from 2002 to 2006.  Kevin worked for OCFA for 16 years before accepting the Fire Marshal position for the Newport Beach Fire Department on January 7, 2019.  He enjoys paddle boarding in Newport Harbor and Back Bay, watching Anaheim Ducks hockey, training his German Short Hair Pointer, and hiking the trails in Orange County.

Kevin is honored to serve the City of Newport Beach in maintaining a safe and prosperous community.
