Matthew Harper
Assemblyman, 74th District
Matthew Harper has represented California’s 74th Assembly District since 2014. He began his career in public service in 1998 when he was elected to the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees. After 12 years on the school board he was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council, where he served for one term before being elected Mayor of Huntington Beach. Matthew attended Orange Coast College before transferring to the University of Southern California, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy and management. Matthew is a real estate broker in Huntington Beach, where he lives with his wife Elizabeth.
