The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Marine Committee meets once a month to provide information and education on all  topics that are “marine oriented”. The meetings are open to the public and will be held at 5:30 pm the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Marina Park located on Newport Harbor in Newport Beach.

Joe Adams has been very honored to be the CEO of the Cube a role he has had since 2003.  Joe enjoys working with community leaders to advance children related causes and using science to better the world around us.  During his tenure with the Cube, Discovery doubled the size of their original science center, created a new science center in Los Angeles, merged with ExplorOcean of Newport Beach to create Discovery Cube’s Ocean Quest, and expanded an educational outreach program into being one of the largest in the nation.  Altogether impacting over 1,200,000 students and guests annually in the areas of Hands-on Science.  Among his many honors Joe and the Cube received the U.S. Medal of Service from The White House in 2013, the highest honor in the museum industry.  Now Joe is excited about furthering the impact of the Cubes into the communities we serve.

Before joining Discover Cube, Joe worked for the Walt Disney Company in their Theme Park Development Division. He was involved with the design and construction of several attractions, restaurants and shops throughout the Disneyland Resort including the opening of Disney’s California Adventure Theme Park.  Prior to Disney Joe built power plants and explored for oil around the world.

Joe has a professional engineering license and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an Energy Concentration from the University of Notre Dame.

Joe is married to Mechelle Lawrence Adams who is the Executive Director of the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  They live in San Juan Capistrano and have three children: Dylan (25) an assistant City Planner for the City of Westminster, Lisa (20) a sophomore at LMU and Jack (6) a musician, a hip-hop dancer, a swimmer, a chess club member, and a budding scientist!
