Austen Parrish is the Dean and a Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law.

Prior to joining UC Irvine in 2022, he served as the Dean and James H. Rudy Professor of Law at Indiana University Bloomington’s Maurer School of Law. He served as the 2025 President of the Association of American Law Schools and remains an officer and a member of their governing board. He also serves as a board member for AccessLex Institute, the nation’s largest nonprofit focused on issues of access and affordability in legal education. He is a board member of the Public Law Center in Orange County, an elected member of the American Law Institute, an editor of the Journal of Legal Education, and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Association of American Law Schools. In January 2026, the National Jurist named Dean Parrish #4 in its list of the most influential people in legal education. Prior to joining academia, Dean Parrish was an attorney with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.
