Chief Boyles likes to say he was born into a life of public service. His father Gary, a retired Fire Chief was hired 6 months before Jeff was born.

Jeff began his fire service career in March of 1994 where he worked as a full time firefighter in the City of Fontana for the San Bernardino County Fire Department. He worked at the fifth busiest fire station in California giving him invaluable experience in a complex and dynamic environment. In 1998, Jeff took a leave of absence to put himself through Paramedic school in Orange County. Jeff started with the Newport Beach Fire Department in February of 2000. During the past 19 years, Jeff has served as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Captain, Arson Investigator, Urban Search and Rescue team member, Battalion Chief, Department Training Chief, Assistant Chief and now as Fire Chief.

Chief Boyles has been highly involved in the Newport Beach and Huntington Beach communities for many years. Away from the fire service, Jeff has coached or managed 21 youth baseball teams and 6 Pop Warner football teams. Professionally, he has served as the Newport Beach Fire Association’s Vice-Present and President, the President of the Orange County Training Officers, Orange County Area Director to Cal Chief’s, Co-Chair of the Orange County EMS Committee. He is a board member with the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Tomorrow program and the Speak Up Newport Board of Directors. Jeff also serves on the City’s Marines 1/1 Foundation.

Jeff holds two Associate Degrees in Fire Technology and Paramedicine, a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration with a Minor in Psychology from Long Beach State University, and most recently graduated on the Dean’s List from Long Beach State University obtaining his Master’s degree in Public Administration.
