Utilities Director, City of Newport Beach
Join us for a general update, as well as discussion about the new wireless water meter pilot program.
Mark Vukojevic was named the Utilities Director for the City of Newport Beach in September 2018. The Utilities Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City’s water and wastewater systems, storm drain and tidal valve system, oil and gas operations, and street lights. Mark and his team also oversee the City’s street sweeping and graffiti removal contractors.
Mark has more than 20 years of experience in planning and engineering for utilities and public works departments. He initially joined the City in 2014 as Deputy Public Works Director/City Engineer and oversaw the planning, design and construction of all public infrastructure projects. Before coming to Newport Beach, Mark served as City Engineer for the City of Anaheim. Prior to his tenure in Anaheim, he worked for the cities of Seal Beach and Claremont.
Throughout Mark’s career, he has concentrated on customer service, public outreach and being highly responsive to the community.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. He is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and a General Engineering Contractor. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Southern California chapter of the American Public Works Association and as Vice President of the Orange County City Engineer’s Association.
Mark lives in Huntington Beach with his wife and children.
