City of Newport Beach Deaf Friendly Celebration

Join Newport Beach Mayor Kevin Muldoon, the Newport Beach City Council and members of the Deaf Community throughout Southern California as we celebrate the City of Newport Beach becoming the first LP Certified Deaf Friendly City in the United States.

The event begins with a reception at 6 pm on Friday, March 10 at Marina Park, located at 1600 W. Balboa Boulevard in Newport Beach.

At 6:30 p.m., Mayor Muldoon will make a special presentation to the Deaf Community as well as Lisa Wrench, CEO of Language People Inc.

Language People recently installed its proprietary video remote interpreting technology at several City facilities. This revolutionary technology allows the deaf and hard of hearing to communicate in American Sign Language through a video remote interpreter. Language People staff will be on hand to demonstrate its technology.

Refreshments and hearty appetizers will be served. The event and parking is free.
