Balboa Angling Club and Pacific Fisheries
Pacific Fisheries is a conservation outreach arm of Hubbs Oceanography Institute in Southern California, founded in 1992. They are responsible for many projects across costal California, including the White Seabass grow pens strategically located in various ports in Southern California. The Newport Beach White Seabass grow pen is managed, stocked and maintained by local volunteers coordinated by Pacific Fisheries as well as stocked with the Seabass fry. The purpose is to grow the Seabass to a certain size where they can fend for themselves when released in the wild. The Pacific Fisheries White Seabass project is in partnership with the Balboa Angling Club, where the two organizations share tools and staff to help the Seabass pen locally run and help repopulate the White Seabass population.
