 Miner\n\nNewport Beach Police Department\n\nChief Miner began his law enfo
 rcement career with the Newport Beach Police Department in 2002. He worked
  a variety of assignments\, including patrol officer\, Field Training Offi
 cer\, SWAT Team member\, Property Crimes detective\, and Crimes Against Pe
 rsons detective. In 2011\, he promoted to the rank of sergeant\, and worke
 d as a patrol sergeant\, Field Training Program supervisor\, SWAT Team sup
 ervisor\, firearms instructor\, Crime Suppression Unit sergeant\, and Prof
 essional Standards Unit sergeant. In 2018\, he promoted to the rank of lie
 utenant\, and worked as a Patrol Watch Commander\, Crisis Response Unit Co
 mmander\, Support Services Division lieutenant\, and Detective Division li
 eutenant. In 2023 he promoted to the rank of deputy chief\, and worked as 
 the division commander for both the Patrol/Traffic and Detective Divisions
 .  He began serving as the acting chief of police on December 14\, 2024\,
  and was officially promoted to the rank of chief on February 22\, 2025.\n
 \nChief Miner is a graduate of several advanced law enforcement training c
 ourses\, including the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute\, th
 e Force Science Institute Certification Course\, and the California Police
  Chiefs Executive Leadership Institute at Claremont Graduate University's 
 Drucker School of Management. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Polit
 ical Science from Brigham Young University. Chief Miner is a board member 
 for Leadership Tomorrow\, a non-profit organization of citizens and leader
 s who work together to make a positive impact in their communities. He is 
 also a member of the Newport Beach Police Department’s Baker to Vegas ru
 nning team\, and has competed in the annual event since 2004.[/vc_column_t
