 n&nbsp\;\nMatt Harper\nCalifornia State Assemblyman\, 74th District\n\nAss
 emblyman Matthew Harper was first elected in November 2014 to represent th
 e 74th Assembly District\, including Huntington Beach\, Costa Mesa\, Irvin
 e\, Newport Beach\, Laguna Beach\, and Laguna Woods.\n\nBefore joining the
  Assembly\, he served as the 59th Mayor of Huntington Beach.  In 2010\, h
 e was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council on a campaign platform 
 of public safety\, infrastructure\, economic development\, administrative 
 and fiscal accountability\, property rights\, personal freedom and opposit
 ion to higher taxes.\n\nFor two years\, Assemblyman Harper was the elected
  Chairman for the Young Republican Federation of California and served on 
 their state board for over ten years. He was re-elected in 2012 to his fif
 th term to the Orange County Republican Party Central Committee. He curren
 tly serves on the executive committee for the OCGOP. Statewide\, he served
  as the elected Associate Representative to the California Republican Part
 y. As Associate Representative\, he served as an ex-officio member of the 
 state platform committee.\n\nAssemblyman Harper was born in Long Beach\, C
 alifornia and grew up in Westminster and Huntington Beach. As a graduate o
 f Huntington Beach High School\, he is a member of the HBHS Alumni Associa
 tion. After transferring from Orange Coast College\, the Assemblyman earne
 d his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy and Management at the Un
 iversity of Southern California.\n\nHe enjoys surfing and takes pride in t
 he perfect surf which can always be found in his district.  Matthew Harpe
 r and his wife Elizabeth are homeowners in Huntington Beach.  \n\n\n\n[ca
