 resident of Chapman University\, a position he assumed in September 2016. 
 Dr. Struppa has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Maryland (19
 81) and originally joined Chapman University as Provost in July 2006 befor
 e assuming the position of Chancellor in July 2007. Prior to coming to Cha
 pman University\, Dr. Struppa had a distinguished career as a Professor of
  Mathematics\, and occupied positions at the University of Milano (Italy)\
 , at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (Italy)\, at the University of C
 alabria (Italy) and\, since 1987\, at George Mason University. He is the a
 uthor of more than 200 refereed publications\, including ten books\, and h
 e is the editor of several volumes. Dr. Struppa is a member of the Nationa
 l Academy of Inventors\, is the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Hon
 or (2018)\, and has received several awards for his mathematical work\, in
 cluding the 2016 Cozzarelli Prize from the National Academy of Sciences.[/
