 veteran\, Gary C. Sherwin\, CDME\, APR has served as President  &amp\; CE
 O of Newport Beach and Company since 2013 and its tourism business unit\, 
 Visit Newport Beach Inc. since 2006.   Sherwin is responsible for overse
 eing the community marketing organization promoting Newport Beach\, Califo
 rnia as a premiere luxury destination.\n\nSherwin also currently serves as
  the Immediate Past Chairman of the Washington DC-based Destinations Inter
 national\, the trade association for tourism marketing organizations. Sher
 win is past chairman of the Orange County Visitor Association\, a recipien
 t of its Legacy Award in 2015 and is the past chairman of the California T
 ravel Association\, the state’s leading umbrella tourism advocacy organi
 zation. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the US Travel Associati
 on.\n\nPrior to joining Newport Beach\, Sherwin served for seven years as 
 the Vice President of Market Development for the Palm Springs Desert Resor
 ts Convention &amp\; Visitors Authority\, the Vice President of Marketing 
 for the Long Beach Convention &amp\; Visitors Bureau\, Director of Media R
 elations for the Los Angeles Convention &amp\; Visitors Bureau and Directo
 r of Marketing Communications for the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors B
 ureau.\n\nSherwin conceived and developed the innovative Newport Beach and
  Company marketing model that not only handles the city’s tourism effort
 s but also works with the local restaurant association\, neighborhood busi
 ness associations\, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Newport Beach 
 to provide a fully integrated approach to marketing the city worldwide. Th
 e organization also created a community foundation to aid in local leaders
 hip development.\n\nA nationally recognized leader and consultant in commu
 nity brand development\, Sherwin co-authored the international best sellin
 g book Destination BrandScience TM\, published by the International Associ
 ation of Convention &amp\; Visitors Bureaus (now Destinations Internationa
 l) in 2005.  Sherwin also serves as a faculty member for the Certified De
 stination Management Executive Program and was the founder of the Destinat
 ions International Hall of Fame\, which recognizes the most influential fi
