 r][vc_column_text]Jon is the 10th Chief of Police in the Department's hist
 ory and assumed office on March 22\, 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science 
 degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Speech Communication from Long 
 Beach State University and a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice fro
 m Chapman University. He is a graduate of several advanced law enforcement
  training courses including the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Insti
 tute as well as the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training Com
 mand College.  He began his law enforcement career with the Newport Beach
  Police Department in July of 1991 and steadily rose through the ranks.\n\
 nChief Lewis has been highly involved in the Newport Beach community for m
 any years. He is an active member of the prestigious Newport Beach Chamber
  of Commerce Commodore’s Club and serves on the Newport Beach and Compan
 y Board of Directors. He is a graduate of the Leadership Tomorrow program 
 and has served as Chair of the Board of Directors. He was a member of the 
 2014 Bowl Championship Series Host Committee and the 2015 Special Olympics
  World Games Committee. The Chief also serves on the Regional Narcotic Sup
 pression Program (RNSP) Executive Board\, the Orange County Auto Theft Tas
 kforce (OCATT) Executive Committee and the Orange County Commission to End
  Homelessness.\n\nChief Lewis and his wife\, Darcy\, have two children\, C
 laire and JT\, and reside in Orange County.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_in
