 Sea Ranch is the first aquaculture facility in U.S. federal waters. Locat
 ed six miles off the coast of Huntington Beach on 100 acres\, Catalina Sea
  Ranch will be commercially growing primarily mussels. Catalina Sea Ranch
 ’s goal is to expand its 100-acre ranch to over 1\,000 acres with scienc
 e based data showing no negative environmental or social impact. Launching
  operations with low-risk\, high profitable mussels – not susceptible to
  disease\, no predators when suspended on ropes in the open-ocean and harv
 ested 6 through 10 months after seeding. Catalina Sea Ranch intends to exp
 and by cultivating other sustainable filter-feeding shellfish crops such a
 s oysters\, rock scallops and macro algae as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_c
