  invites sailors of all ages to enter the 81st Annual Flight of the Lasers
 .\n\nAlthough it's not the America's Cup race\, Newport Beach's annual "Fl
 ight of the Lasers" race still has been the starting point for many blue-w
 ater sailors.\n\nMore than 50 entries are expected for the afternoon race\
 , which marks the 81st time Olympic class sailboats have competed on Newpo
 rt Bay in what has become a local tradition.\n\nOriginally called the "Fli
 ght of the Snowbirds\," because of the wooden boats used in the race\, the
  event was renamed in 1975 after organizers decided to replace the aging\,
  wooden craft with more modern\, fiberglass boats\, known as "lasers\," us
