 team to the 53rd Annual Sandcastle Contest and have a chance to be recogni
 zed\, win cash prizes and have a great day at the beach! This year's theme
  is "It's a Beach Party!" This long-running event is presented by the Comm
 odores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and attracts thousand
 s of spectators and contest participants ranging from seasoned professiona
 ls to first–timers. Get your team together – family\, friends\, work\,
  church or school group – sign up now or come to the beach to watch. Eve
 nt participants receive a free T-Shirt.\nTo sign up as a participant\, use

 \nRULES\nMaterials Allowed • Sand within 15’ x 15’ designated buildi
 ng area. (Masters 20’ x 15’) • Decorative materials (must be biodeg
 radable\, ie. shells\, seaweed\, etc.) • Design must stand on its own\, 
 with no supports under or on top of the sand. • No extending outside the
  plot area. • No adhesives allowed. • Plots may be watered down prior 
 to the start time. Buckets may be filled prior to the start time.\n\nPeopl
 e-Power • A team will consist of up to eight (8) workers in the sand plo
 t area. Teams may alternate workers\, but no more than eight workers at a 
 time are allowed in the plot area. • Teams may have unlimited water carr
 iers. Buckets must be set down outside the plot once the contest starts.\n
 \nTools Allowed • All hand tools (masonry\, garden or household implemen
 ts\, shovels and tampers). • Wheelbarrows and ladders (1 or 2 per team\,
  please). • Pails\, buckets\, watering cans or hand pump sprayers. • F
 orms (must be removed prior to judging).\n\nTimes to Remember\n\n9:00 - 11
 :00 a.m. • Registration and plot assignments. First come\, first served 
 • Report to Commodores Registration Table • Plot areas may be prepped.
 \n11:00 a.m. • Start time for all categories\n2:30 p.m. • Sand castle 
 building STOPS. Judging begins.\n3:30 - 4:30 p.m. • Awards ceremony
