He assumed the deanship on Jan. 1\, 2022.\n\nGould l eads the nation’s only school of social ecology\, established in 1970 in response to high demand for more socially relevant research. For more tha n 50 years\, the school has been an internationally recognized pioneer in developing interdisciplinary approaches to social problems. Its highly ran ked faculty in criminology\, law and society\; urban planning and public p olicy\; and psychological science engage in research and education to fost er informed social action and make the world a better place. He helped cre ate and leads the UCI-OC Poll\, which regularly surveys Orange County res idents about pressing problems to help identify potential solutions.\n\nGo uld’s expertise covers justice policy\, social change and government re form. He was the principal investigator for the Preventing Wrongful Convic tions Project\, a multiyear research initiative funded by the National Ins titute of Justice.
